PALM SPRINGS, CA – The 2012 First-Year Player Draft kicked off this week and the Palm Springs POWER were well represented with eight former players being drafted by Major League clubs through the first 36 rounds.

Corey Black, who pitched for the POWER in 2010, was the highest former player selected going in the 4th round to the New York Yankees.

Also selected was fan-favorite and 2011 Home-Run Derby winner Ryan Garvey, son of former Major League All-Star Steve Garvey. Ryan was taken by the Colorado Rockies in the 33rd round.
