The Palm Springs Power move to 4-0 on the season with a big win against the Southern Nevada Coyotes. The Power narrowly evaded defeat with a 7-4 win led by a dominant performance by College of the Desert third baseman, Jason Leon who went 2-4 at the plate with a double and 3 stolen bases. The Power had 5 hits on the evening. In the post-game interview, Leon said he plans to continue to be aggressive at the plate and hopes to continue his success. The Power pitching staff saw an 11 strikeout night, which sets them to an impressive 62 strikeouts in just 4 games this season. Coach Dill chose the Missouri State arm of Miles Halligan to start on the mound tonight, in which he went for 3 complete innings and only allowed 4 hits and 3 runs. However, the Power showed true dominance on the base paths tonight by incurring 4 stolen bases in tonight’s outing. Reliever Kyle Mosely was given the W tonight for the Power, while Hunter Katschke moves into the loss collum. The Pittsburgh Panther Kyle Mosely was brought in for a relief effort for the Power tonight. Mosley went for 3 complete and struck out 3 batters during his time on the mound. Mosley was able to reach back to bring a 93mph fastball while sitting around the 92mph mark. Michael Groves also got some time out of the bullpen. The University of North Carolina-Ashville reliever hit 92mph on the fastball all while racking up 4 and allowing only 1 hit during his outing. It was New Mexico Lobos Jacob Stramiska who came in to close the Power defensive efforts. The Georgetown, Texas native pitcher threw only 7 pitches to retire the side with a strikeout and 2 infield groundballs. The bats were challenged by the Coyotes staff, being kept to only 5 hits on the evening. The Power were consistently able to get runners on base by any means. Drawing 6 walks and 2 batters hit by pitches, the Power kept runners on base consistently. The Power bats were also able to get the ball onto grass quite frequently, most of the hits came from singles. Station-to-station baseball was the theme for both teams, the pitching staffs only allowing a total of 3 extra base hits. Palm Springs Power baseball comes back to the beautiful Palm Springs Stadium this Friday at 7 pm when they face off against the Inland Valley Pirates.
