PALM SPRINGS, Calif. ~ The Palm Springs POWER head to the SCCBL Playoffs after capping off a historic regular season on Sunday night.

They enter the postseason as the number-one seed and the first-ever POWER squad to finish the regular season perfect in SCCBL play (24-0), finishing 36-2 overall. Despite a couple of late-season out-of-conference losses, the POWER displayed consistent dominance with a 36-0 start — the best in franchise history. 2019 Season Recap

The SoCal Stros, who turned in an 11-15 record to edge the California Jays and see another contest, will assume the 4-seed and square off with the POWER in Tuesday’s semi-final matchup. This marks the first trip to the SCCBL postseason in franchise history for the Stros, in just their second season.

The Stros have three of the league’s home run leaders — Jacob Martin, Josh Bozoia, and Evan Banks each logged three bombs this summer. Banks, a probable starter in the outfield, went down to the wire with the POWER’s Ryan Sepede in the SCCBL Home Run Derby on July 10, emerging victorious after a three-swing playoff. Banks also has 15 RBIs this summer alongside his aforementioned jacks. The Stros offense receives additional support from Ryan WIlliams, who finished fourth in league batting average standings with a .347 in 75 ABs.

On the mound, Stros lefty Juan Sanchez leads the squad with a 5.21 ERA over 32.1 innings pitched. He may compete with Jack Jett, the probable starter on the bump for the POWER in Tuesday’s contest. Jett enters the ballgame with a 1.90 ERA over 27 complete innings, as well as five wins and 28 Ks.

Steve Boscia is projected to start on the rubber for the second semi-final matchup on Wednesday. Boscia recorded a 2.25 ERA over 32 innings this summer, dealing 30 Ks and earning six wins in the process.
