The 2023 Palm Springs Power introduced themselves in grand fashion to a packed house at Palms Springs Stadium Friday night against the Long Beach Legends. The bats and arms worked together for an 11-1 win. The winning pitcher was Seth Mattox, a local player. The losing Pitcher was Jake McCmillan, the starter for the Long Beach Legends.

 Power starter Seth Mattox shoved for 5 shutout innings with 6 strikeouts. The Power scored 2 runs in the first inning from a Michael Groves single. They never looked back. They added 4 in the second, 1 in each of the 6th and 7th. Finally, the power surged for 3 more runs in the bottom of the 8th. The inning started with a Noah Blythe triple and snowballed after a couple of Legend’s errors. Blythe went 3 for 4 with 3 runs driven in. Michael Groves added 3 rbi as well. Matt Porter was another shutdown pitcher in his Power debut. The southpaw pitched 2 innings and had 5 strikeouts all in a row. In the 9th Kenny Schechter shut down Long Beach one, two, three, to close out the game and secure the Power win!

The Power face off with the Long Beach Legends once again on Saturday June 2nd at 7pm. Gates open at 6. Come out to Palm Springs Stadium and cheer on the Power as they try to improve to 2-0. After the Weekend the Powe will have one more game with the Legends on Tuesday the 6th.
