The Palm Springs Power faced off with the San Diego Waves on Saturday night at Palm Springs Stadium. The Power improved to 15-1 with a 5-0 deciding victory over San Diego. Jacob Strmiska, of New Mexico, started on the bump for Coach Casey Dill and absolutely shoved. Strmiska pitched 4 innings only giving up 2 hits and 2 walks while allowing 0 runs. Strmiska punched out 7 batters, earning the victory.
The Power jumped on Waves starter Colten Burger for 4 runs in the first inning. Noah Blythe lined a 2 run double into right field to get the scoring started. Brandon Leon added an rbi single before coming around to score himself. Those 4 runs were plenty for the power pitchers.
Michael Groves added an insurance run with a frozen rope double in the 7th inning. Julian Orozco added 3 shutout innings and 4 strikeouts. Pittspurgh Panther Kyle Mosely pitched a scoreless 8th topping out at 94mph. College of the Desert closer Kenny Schechter shut it down in the 9th to secure the shutout victory.
The Power have a couple of days off but will be right back battling for a 16th win on Tuesday night against the San Diego Grind. Game time is 7 and gates open at 6. Come on out to beautiful Palm Springs Stadium for $2 Tuesday and enjoy some Power Baseball.
