Palm Springs, Calif. – The Palm Springs Power recovered from an early deficit for a 9-5 victory over the Inland Valley Legends in CPCL play Wednesday night at Palm Springs Stadium.
Palm Springs plated three runs apiece in the first and second inning. The first inning was sparked by Noah Blythe (Hawaiʻi Pacific) notching a two RBI single to tie the ballgame at three. Alonso Reyes (UC Irvine) and Blythe added RBI tallies in the second for a three run Power lead.
The Power added insurance with another three spot in the seventh inning. Back to back triples from Austin Haller (Western Kentucky) and Ely Brown (Mercer University) sparked the Power surge and an RBI double from Aiden Taurek (St. Mary’s) topped off the scoring.
Haller finished a stellar night a home run shy of the cycle. The Southern California native batted three for four at the plate with an RBI and run.
Brenton Thiels (Louisiana Tech) earned the win in a quality start on the bump tossing six innings with three earned runs allowed and two strikeouts.
Kyle Mosley (Pittsburgh) pitched out of the pen for the last three innings holding the Legends to just a run and earned the save.
The Power completed a sweep of the five game season series versus the Legends.
Palm Springs improves to 18-0 and 10-0 in the CPCL with 37 straight wins dating to 2023.
The Power will continue CPCL action on Friday opening a series with the Inland Valley Pirates. Friday is NBC Palm Springs Night at the ballpark featuring NBC Palm Springs talent including sports anchor Tim O’Brien.
