Palm Springs, Calif. – The Palm Springs Power continued their winning recipe, scoring early and often for a 15-1 win over the California Halos on Friday night at Palm Springs Stadium.
The Power scored in five frames with 18 hits as 10 different players tallied a hit on the night.
The Power offense started hot in the bottom of the first with three straight hits from Aiden Taurek (St. Mary’s), Noah Blythe (Hawaii Pacific) and Alonso Reyes (UC Irvine). Andrew Rivas (UC Riverside) and Dalton Thomas (St. Katherine’s) both knocked in runs.
Two five run innings were key in the Power onslaught. Reyes’ two RBI base hit in the fourth was the impetus for the first big frame and Nic Ely (Newman University) mashed a base clearing double off the left field wall to highlight the seventh.
Reyes finished 3-4 with two runs, two RBIs and two walks. Taurek had a perfect 3-3 night with three runs scored and two walks. And Rivas shined in his Power debut with two hits and three RBIs.
Josh Martinez (Cal St. Northridge) made his sixth start of the season for the Power and pitched four innings allowing just a run with five strikeouts.
Hudson Boncal (Ohio University) pitched a gem out of the pen earning the win with four shutout innings and five strikeouts without allowing a hit.
The Power improve to 23-0 on the season with 42 straight franchise victories dating to 2023.
Palm Springs finishes their week of baseball Saturday at 7 PM versus the South Bay Saints. Saturday is Adaptive Athletes Night at Palm Springs Stadium presented by SoCal Adaptive Sports promoting and offering inclusivity for all in sports.The evening is also a Jack in the Box Family Day with all kids 12 and under receiving free admission.
