Pasadena, CA – The Palm Springs POWER traveled to Anderson Field at Occidental College in Pasadena, CA for their last conference game of the season. The Thrashers would jump out to an early 3 – 1 lead after James Crockett ran into a bit of base-loaded trouble in the third. Crockett was however able to get out of the jam as Chett Zeise doubled Eric Scott off of second after flashing the leather and making a great diving play on a Pedro Aldape line drive.
The POWER would draw closer the very next inning as Walker made up for a throwing error that allowed two runs to score by doubling home Jacob Nelson who had reached after being hit by a Greg Bond fastball. The game would remain 3 – 2 in favor of the Thrashers until the sixth inning in which a very unusually play yielded the POWER with two runs. Walker reached on an error by Thrasher first basemen Eric Barbato but ensuing errors by the right fielder Eric Scott and the second basemen Daniel Reitz allowed both Marcus Romero and Keenyn Walker to come all the way around and score making the score 4 – 3 in favor of the POWER. The POWER would waste no time extending their lead to 7 – 3 as they scored three runs in the seventh on an RBI single by Brett Christopher, who would later come around to score on a wild pitch, and a RBI double by Marcus Romero.
Gabe Aguilar would run into a bit of trouble on the mound in the ninth inning but the he would hold on to allow the POWER to beat the Thrashers by the score of 7 – 3. Brandon Kizer, who was credit with the win, along with Kesley Kondo provided a nice bridge to Aguilar in the ninth as they were able to toss five scoreless innings. With the win the POWER improve to 30 – 2 on the season and 19 – 1 in conference play.
