Palm Springs, Calif. –  Richie Amavizca pitched a quality start and the Palm Springs Power hit two home runs to complete a sweep of the Havasu Heat by a score of 7-3 Wednesday night at Palm Springs Stadium.

Amavizca (New Mexico Highlands) took home his fourth win of the season, delivering seven innings from the bump and allowing just two runs. Amavizca was efficient with two perfect innings to start the game. He struck out three batters and did not allow a free pass.

Palm Springs’ home runs guided the offense. In the bottom of the fourth Noah Blythe (Hawai’i Pacific) doubled. Then with two outs, Bubba Thompson (Dakota State) launched a massive two run home run to left field to tie the game at two.

Blythe continued the power surge in the fifth mashing a two run homer to left to give the Power a lead they never relinquished. Blythe hit his third home run of the season and finished with two hits and two runs on the night.

The Power added three insurance runs in the eighth. Angel Cortez (Cal State Northridge) and Dalton Thomas (St. Katherine’s) hit singles to start the inning before Alonso Reyes (UC Irvine) knocked in a run with an RBI single. A bases loaded walk and hit-by-pitch added two more runs. Cortez and Thomas both finished with multihit nights.

The Power bullpen pitched two scoreless innings to secure the sweep of their rivals from Lake Havasu. The Power improve to 26-0 on the year with 45 straight club victories dating to the 2023 season.
