Palm Springs, Calif. –  The Palm Springs Power used an eighth inning rally to top the Power Summer Collegiate League All-Stars by a score of 5-4 Thursday night in front of over 3,000 fans at Palm Springs Stadium.
The Power were pushed to the limit by the PSCL All-Stars. The All-Stars were cheered on by their teammates and coaches who populated the grandstands. The PSCL players negated the usual home field advantage of the Power for a thrilling seesaw affair.
Palm Springs was down 4-3 to start the eighth. Cody Kashimoto (St. Mary’s) led off the inning with a single to start the Power rally. Kashimoto was driven in by an Ely Brown (Mercer) RBI single to make it a tie game. Austin Haller (Western Kentucky) was the hero as he drove in the go-ahead run to give the Power a 5-4 lead.
After trailing early Palm Springs answered back in the bottom of the second with an RBI single by Kashimoto scoring Fred Buckson (Vanguard) to make it 1-1.
The PSCL All-Stars retook the lead in the fifth to make it 4-1. Palm Springs kept it close with a bottom-of-the-fifth-inning RBI sacrifice fly by Noah Blythe (Hawai’i Pacific) to cut the deficit to two.
The Power continued their surge in the sixth as Kashimoto scored on a fielder’s choice making it a one-run game heading into the final three innings.
Kyle Mosley (Pitt) came out of the bullpen in the ninth after the Power took the lead in the bottom of the eighth. Mosley, who signed a contract this week with the Billings Mustangs of the professional Pioneer League, made his final appearance for the Power in a heroic manner setting down the All-Stars in order to record the save in his final Power appearance.
Holden Phelps (Pitt) earned the win on the bump tossing 3.2 shutout innings with five strikeouts. Kashimoto led the Power bats with three hits and two runs on the night.
Palm Springs improves to 22-0 on the season. Palm Springs extend their franchise record to 41 straight wins, dating back to last season.
The Palm Springs Power are back in action Friday night against the SoCal Halos at Palm Springs Stadium. Friday is Boomers Night with the first 100 kids in attendance receiving a free two hour play pass from Boomers Palm Springs.

The Power are a member of the California Premier Collegiate League and the league’s inaugural champions in 2023. Palm Springs has won nine league championships in 19 seasons of playing baseball in the desert dating to 2004.
