Palm Springs, Calif. –  The Palm Springs Power remained undefeated with a 11-3 beat down of the Inland Valley Legends Friday night at Palm Springs Stadium.

The Power started fast, scoring three runs each in the first and second frame. Josh Martinez (Cal State Northridge) delivered four quality innings for the Power on the bump allowing just one run on three hits with three strikeouts.

Austin Haller (Western Kentucky) was the catalyst offensively Friday evening batting 3-3 with a double, RBI and three stolen bases.

The Power caused problems for the Legends on the bases all night with six walks and four total stolen bases. Palm Springs added another three spot in the fourth inning to turn the ballgame into a blowout and finished the night with eleven hits including three for extra bases.

On the mound Andrew Pinedo (Hope International) was first out of the bullpen pitching two shutout innings on three strikeouts. Richie Amavizca (New Mexico Highlands) twirled a perfect inning to secure the win.

The win moved the Power to 11-0 on the season and 5-0 in CPCL play. The Legends dropped to 2-3 in the CPCL and have lost all three matchups against the Power.

The Power and Legends finish their weekend set on Saturday night at 7 PM at Palm Springs Stadium. The Power will host a Fathers Day celebration including a pregame catch on the field for all Fathers. The evening is also Jack in the Box Kids Day with all kids 12 and under receiving free admission.

The Palm Springs Power are a summer collegiate baseball team playing all games at Palm Springs Stadium. The Power are a member of the California Premier Collegiate League and the league’s inaugural champions in 2023. Palm Springs has won nine league championships in 19 seasons of playing baseball in the desert dating to 2004.
