Palm Springs, Calif – The Power might’ve been missing some key figures in their lineup tonight, but the heart of this team shined tonight as they were able to rally back late in the game to take their 6th victory in a row to start the season. After a slow start with the bats, the desert’s hometown team played till the last out was called on the back of some fantastic defense, and some key hits to keep their winning streak going before heading on the road for a double header.
It all started in the 3rd inning as Tate Gambill hits an RBI-Single to get the Power on the board first, scoring Tyler Preece from 2nd, who reached on a Single himself. The 5th inning ended the night for Julian Orozco as he a pitched a little over 75 pitches for a line of 5 complete inning, only allowing 1 walk and 7 strikeouts. The 6th inning saw the Power struggle a little, allowing the Pirates to get on the board and take the lead at 3-1. The 8thinning was when the fireworks began to pop. After a couple of singles that led to the bases being loaded, the player of the game Bryant Ball finally had his chance to shine with a bases clearing double, putting the Power up 5-4. The drama didn’t stop there in the 9th inning. After a few runners got on base, the game was saved after a phenomenal diving catch at 2nd base by Daulton Thomas to record the final out of the inning and record another victory for the Power. It was a fantastic catch that had the crowd cheering and the players rushing to greet their 2nd basemen for high fives and chest bumps!
A big win tonight, but the Palm Springs Power are back to work tomorrow as they set off for one of two double-header road trips, as they take on both the Inland Valley Bucs and the Inland Valley Pirates.
