PALM SPRINGS, Calif. – It might’ve been a different set of Legends, but it was the same story from the night before as the Palm Springs Power were able to take their second win of the season in easy fashion, defeating the Legends 12-1.  It was all led by manager, Casey Dill, and the Player of the Game, Mark Kirkland, who went 3 for 4 with a Double, a couple of singles, and an RBI.  It was also another fantastic outing by the Power pitching staff, who combined for a total of 16 strikeouts, and only allowed one run and three hits.

The man of the night, Mark Kirkland started the power off with an RBI Single to Right Field in the 2nd inning to get the Power started.  Cracks began to reveal themselves for the Legends as a misplay from Noah Blythe’s Single allowed him into scoring position.  Tate Gambill took full advantage of the man on 2nd and hit an RBI Single to get an early 2-0 lead after 3 innings.   The 4th and 6th innings were when the cracks were fully revealed as 8 runs were scored after a plethora of wild pitches, passed balls, and walks made it easy for the Power to blow the lead out to an untouchable reach for the Legends.  A few more insurance runs added on by Tyler Preece and Michael Swan’s RBI hits, along with some lights-out performances by the pitching staff, and the Power stroll into the season with a 2-0 start.

The Power are off for the next few days, but they’ll be back this coming Tuesday as they try for their third win in a row as they take on the Inland Valley Legends.  Tuesday will also be the Power’s first $2 Beer Night of season, followed by $4 Wine Wednesday the following day.  Game time will be at 7:00 PM, with gates opening at 6:00 PM.
