PALM SPRINGS, Calif. ~ Jonathan Buckley led the Power with a 3-0 record in the regular season and he led the league with a 0.77 ERA in five starts with one complete game in SCCBL play. In 35 innings pitched, the St. Mary’s College senior fanned 36 batters while walking just five. He gave up only three earned runs on 24 hits over that span.
Manager Casey Dill shared why Buckley was so valuable to the Power:
“Buckley was a player who lead by example, he expected to win every time he took the mound. He is a fierce competitor who loves pitching in big moments. I trusted Buckley with the ball every time he took the mound, that he would give us a chance to win, and he did.”
In addition to being named SCCBL Pitcher of the Year, Buckley earned All-SCCBL First Team honors. Other POWER players named to the First Team are Jack Carberry (Western Illinois), Darin May (Cal Poly Pomona), Brady Shockey (USC) and Matt Green (St. Mary’s College), with Austin Reyes (Santa Clara University) and Hayden Schilling (University of New Mexico) making the Second Team cut.
