Tuesday was the first day of the annual POWER youth camp. Over 60 kids from the Coachella Valley made it out to Palm Springs Stadium for the first of three days of instructional baseball training.
POWER coaches Harry Gurley and Bobb Boetto, along with some of the current players, were on hand to help the boys and girls learn how to become better ballplayers.
As well as hitting, pitching and fielding, the players learn valuable life skills like discipline and sportsmanship.
Since the camp runs from 8:00 am until noon, it’s a good opportunity to get some baseball in while beating the heat.
Even if they missed today, kids can still come tomorrow and Thursday. Remember, it’s free for members of the POWER Youth Academy.
Make sure to come out to the ballpark Tuesday and Wednesday night, as the POWER host SCCBL opponent Inland Valley Buccaneers. Tuesday is Dollar Beer Night presented by Tahquitz Creek, and Wednesday is Family Appreciation Night (dollar admission), brought to you by Jack in the Box.
