The POWER (15-1, 3-1) exploded for 15 runs on 21 hits in a 15-1 win over the Lancaster Rounders (1-1) at Palm Springs Stadium on Friday.
Zach Sterry (Oakland) paced the POWER offense going 4-for-5 with four RBIs, two runs and a stolen base.
“It was nice to go out there and start hitting the ball like I know I can do it,” said Sterry. “I started concentrating and getting my [front] foot down and that helped a lot.”
Danny Edgeworth (Mercer) reached base safely on four occasions finishing the night 2-for-4 with a double, an RBI and two runs scored.
Kyle Murray (Hofstra) picked up the win pitching five scoreless innings while allowing just two hits and striking out six.
“I felt good,” said Murray. “My game plan today was just throw strikes, not really worry about velocity.”
Nick Medeiros (Santa Clara) made his pitching debut for the red and white tossing two scoreless frames to close out the game.
Palm Springs is back in action tomorrow night as they take on the East LA Dodgers on Kid’s Night Presented by Desert Air Conditioning. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05.
