PALM SPRINGS, CA – Carlos Fuentes and Scott Simmons combined for nine innings allowing just one run in the POWER’s (29-6) 9-1 victory over the Santa Maria Packers (13-22) at Palm Spring Stadium on Friday night.
Fuentes (3-1) went five innings while striking out nine batters in the win while Simmons earned the save pitching four scoreless innings with four strikeouts.
Designated-hitter Joel Thys led the way on offense going 3-for-5 with two RBIs and a run scored.
Chesny Young chipped in with three hits of his own, including a two-out, two-RBI single in the first to start the scoring.
The POWER are back at it tomorrow against the Packers with game two of the series slated for a 7:05 pm start time on Faith Night at the ballpark.
