PALM SPRINGS, CA – The Palm Springs POWER got back on track Sunday night, defeating the San Diego Waves 11-1 at Palm Springs Stadium.
In the only matchup of the season between the two teams, the POWER went ahead early with three runs in the second inning and added to the lead with three in the third and three more in the sixth.
David Kiriakos led the offense for Palm Springs, collecting two hits and four RBIs on the night. He now leads the team with 24 runs batted in on the season.
Chad Clark also had a big night, going 3-for-5 with an RBI and Ryan Jones had two hits, two RBIs and two runs scored.
POWER starting pitcher Doug Finley (2-0) pitched five innings, allowing just one run on five hits with three strikeouts to pick up the win. Garrett Hicks pitched three scoreless frames out of the bullpen and Tony Guerra finished off the ninth with a scoreless inning of his own.
The POWER have Monday off before they start a crucial two-game series with the Long Beach Legends on Tuesday night at 7:05 p.m. at Palm Springs Stadium. Tuesday night is Coachella Valley Rescue Mission Night as well as $1 beer night at the stadium.
