PALM SPRINGS, CA — The Palm Springs POWER (22-5, 12-4) came from behind for the third straight night to defeat the San Luis Obispo Rattlers (19-11) 6-5 at Palm Springs Stadium Sunday night. The win was the seventh consecutive for the POWER.
Palm Springs trailed 5-2 entering the eighth inning, but loaded the bases with only one out. Adam Law then reached on an error by Trevor Nathanson as Brooks Klein scored the first run of the inning. Rick Seigel followed with a bases loaded walk that scored Chad Clark.
After a Joel Thys strikeout, David Kiriakos was hit by a pitch, which brought home pinch-runner Tyler Surnbrock to tie the game at five. Rattlers manager Aaron Levin was ejected for the second straight night following the hit batsman.
With the bases loaded in a tie game and Hank Yates at the plate, relief pitcher Brett Haringa uncorked a wild pitch that allowed Law to score what would eventually be the deciding run.
Garrett Hicks (1-1) picked up his first victory of the season with a perfect inning of work in the eighth. Edgar Gomez closed out the game with a 1-2-3 ninth inning for his second save of the season.
The POWER are off on Monday before beginning a two-game series at home with the Casa Grande Cotton Kings. Tuesday is $1 beer night at Palm Springs Stadium. Gates open at 6:05 p.m. with first pitch at 7:05 p.m.
