Palm Springs, Calif. – The Palm Springs Power continued their red-hot stretch on Friday night, rallying from an early deficit to defeat the California Rush 8-3 and secure their 20th win of the season while extending their winning streak to seven games.

The Rush struck first in the second inning, taking a 2-0 lead behind RBI’S from Beckley and Akaka. They added another run in the fourth when Berthon led off the inning with a double before coming around to score on an RBI by Oviedo-Cowins, stretching the advantage to 3-0.

California Rush starter Justin Ries kept the Power offense quiet through the first four innings, holding Palm Springs scoreless while allowing his offense to build the early cushion.

The momentum shifted dramatically in the bottom of the fifth. The Power offense erupted for four runs on six hits, sending the lineup rolling from top to bottom. Williams got the comeback started with an RBI hit before Richards and Bianchina each drove in runs as Palm Springs stormed in front 4-3.

The Power kept the pressure on in the sixth, capitalizing on a pair of defensive miscues by the Rush. California’s mistakes proved costly as Palm Springs plated three more runs to extend its lead to 7-3.

Matt Mecate added the finishing touch in the eighth inning, ripping an RBI triple into the gap to score an insurance run and give the Power an 8-3 advantage.

While the offense came alive in the middle innings, the story of the night was the Power bullpen. After the Rush scored their third run in the fourth, Palm Springs’ relievers slammed the door, combining for five consecutive scoreless innings to preserve the victory. The bullpen allowed no late opportunities, giving the offense all the support it needed to complete the comeback.

With the 8-3 win, the Power improved to 20 wins on the season and pushed their winning streak to seven games, continuing their impressive run as they head into the final stretch of the season.
