Palm Springs, Calif. – 24 hours after a 6-1 victory over the Inland Valley Bucs, the Palm Springs Power lineup kept the momentum going, bludgeoning the California Halos, 20-6.
The Power’s offensive explosion began with a six-run first inning, which featured an Owen Michaelson leadoff double, three walks, and four total hits.
The most notable of those hits, though, was Ramon Valenzuela’s three-run single, a remarkably uncommon feat.
Valenzuela would finish the game 2-4 with four runs batted in and a walk.
Collecting the loss for the Halos was Colin Dominguez, whom the Power knocked out of the game after the aforementioned first inning.
Meanwhile, Jimi Welsher claimed the win for the Power despite a shaky performance, as he yielded nine hits, along with five earned runs.
The bright spot for the Power pitching was the performance of their bullpen, who allowed just three hits across as many innings following Welsher’s outing. The combination of Isaac Sanchez, Andrew Baltazar, and Javier Vasquez gave up just one earned run.
The Power followed their remarkable first inning with two runs in the bottom of the second inning, before plating another six in the third inning.
Amari Conley’s performance, however, was perhaps the most encouraging part of the day for the Power offense.
Conley, who entered the game 5-35 (.143), finished 3-3, adding a walk, and four runs batted in.
Juni Rodriguez also flaunted his outstanding plate discipline, drawing four walks.
The Power’s impressive offensive outing, along with another formidable bullpen performance exemplified exactly what the team can accomplish upon reaching their fullest potential.
The Power will next face off against the SoCal Mavericks on Friday. First pitch is set for 7:00 PM, with stadium gates opening an hour before.
