Palm Springs, Calif. – The Palm Springs Power continued their red-hot start to the season, extending their winning streak to seven games with a dominating 13-5 victory over the Inland Valley Bucs. The Bucs jumped out to an early lead in the opening inning when Noah Haros lined an RBI single to put Inland Valley on the board. They added two more runs in the second as Garcia led off the frame with a triple before Ortiz brought him home on a fielder’s choice. Another Buccaneers run crossed the plate on a Power defensive miscue, giving Inland Valley a 3-0 lead. Palm Springs answered in the bottom half of the second, putting together a three-hit inning. Rhein delivered an RBI single to get the Power on the scoreboard and cut the deficit to two. From there, the momentum shifted completely in favor of the Power. Pitchers Josh Martinez and Isaac Sanchez shut the door on the Bucs’ offense, combining for four consecutive scoreless innings while allowing the offense time to come alive.
Palm Springs erupted for seven runs across the middle innings, turning a deficit into a commanding lead. The biggest swing came in the fourth inning when Amari Conley stepped to the plate with two outs and ripped a go-ahead RBI triple down the right field line giving the Power their first lead of the night. Once in front, the Power never looked back. Their lineup continued to apply pressure with timely hitting and aggressive baserunning, piling on insurance runs late to pull away for the 13-5 victory. The offense finished with another explosive performance, the Power have now scored double digit runs in 4 straight games. Backing a pitching staff that settled in after the early innings.
After surrendering three runs through the first two frames, the Power held the Bucs in check the rest of the way while their bats produced 13 runs. With the victory, Palm Springs improves its winning streak to seven games and continues to build momentum as one of the hottest teams in the league. The Power face off against the Bucs again tomorrow night, first pitch at 7:00pm.
