Palm Springs, Calif. – Palm Springs Power defeated the Utah Yaks for the consecutive straight night due to a walk-off single from Alex Jasso.
After jumping off to a 2 to 0 lead in the first inning, the Power would surrender a lead they wouldn’t get back until the decisive 10th inning. The highlight of the Yaks offense was Emmett Desmond’s moonshot home run to dead center which extended the Yaks lead to 5 to 3 in the 5th inning. They would extend their lead to 7 to 3 after Desmond’s 3rd RBI of the night on a sac fly.
The Power would mount a comeback in the 7th inning thanks to a rally sparked by a pair of hits from Axtell and Mecate capping off a 4 run inning for the Power to tie the game at 7.
The tie was short lived as the Yaks came up with clutch 2 out hits on back-to-back RBI singles from Goins and Velasco reclaiming the lead 9 to 7 heading into the bottom half of the 8th inning. Power responded back with a clutch 2 out hit of their own with a Caden Richards 2 run homer, his second home run in as many days evening the score at 9.
Following a scoreless 9th from both sides, Alexander Oliver came back out for the 10th inning and delivered a 1, 2, 3 frame. In the bottom half of the 10th, Owen Michelson got the inning started with a leadoff double. A wild pitch put Michelson 90 feet away from the winning run. With Alexander Jasso “Just wanting to come through for the team” did exactly that, delivering a walk-off single into left center field.
