Palm Springs, Calif. –  Five Palm Springs Power pitchers combined to strike out 15 and allow just two hits in a 4-2 win over San Diego United on Wednesday night at Palm Springs Stadium.

Starter Tyrone Woods set the tone with five scoreless innings, striking out seven and surrendering only one hit — an infield single in the fifth inning that deflected off his leg. The Power held a 1-0 lead through five, thanks to strong pitching and defense.

San Diego briefly took the lead in the sixth when Lucas Zack gave up a two-run home run with two outs, but the Power offense responded immediately. RBI singles from Mark Kirkland and Casey Kleinman in the bottom of the inning put Palm Springs back in front, 3-2.

Andrew Pinedo and Richie Amavizca kept United quiet in the seventh and eighth innings, combining for four strikeouts without allowing a run. Kleinman delivered again in the eighth with an RBI single to give the Power a two-run cushion.

Isaac Quintero slammed the door in the ninth, striking out three to earn the save and seal the win. Myles Walton led the Power offense, going 2-for-3 with a walk and two runs scored.

The Power returns to action on Friday, July 4, to face the Power Summer Collegiate League All-Stars at 6 p.m. at Palm Springs Stadium, followed by a post-game fireworks show.
