Riverside, Calif. – The Palm Springs Power completed their first road trip of the season after facing the Inland Valley Bucs at the University of California Riverside on Sunday. The Power swept the doubleheader with scores of 6-1 in the first game and 11-10 in the second.
The first contest saw Trevor Eby take home the win. The Power’s starter delivered five innings of one-run ball, striking out four and only allowing three hits. Offensively, although it was a showing all over the lineup, Bryant O’neil led the team with two hits, two walks and three RBI.
After Eby, Jaden McNeely made his Power debut. The Saint Mary’s product faced the minimum over two scoreless frames and closed out the game after seven innings.
The second game was more eventful with four lead changes between the two teams. The Power jumped out to an early two nothing lead before recording an out and the clubs traded blows until Tyrone Woods fired the final pitch to earn the save in the ninth.
Casey Dill had to use his bullpen early and often after a short outing by starter Kenny Keller. The Power used six pitchers to cover the 27 outs with AJ Moreno delivering the most impressive outing. In his Power debut, Moreno fired two and two-thirds scoreless, not allowing a baserunner and struck out five.
Michael Gonsalez spearheaded the lineup, reaching base four times and driving in three runs. While pinch hit appearances from Casey Kleinman and Blake Conrad boosted a late inning rally.
The Power improve to 7-1 on the season (3-1 CPCL) and return to Palm Springs on Tuesday for games against the Alameda Anchors. — Stay connected to all the Palm Springs Power action, even when you can’t make it to the stadium!
