Palm Springs, Calif. – The Palm Springs Power surged past the SoCal Mavericks 5-0 for their 13th win of the season.
Starting pitcher Trevor Eby won player of the game honors, getting the win with five innings, seven strikeouts, four hits and zero runs. He was one out away from being ineligible for the win, as the first two batters in the bottom 5th were retired.
Dalton Thomas was hit by a pitch, beginning a 3-run surge. Austin Haller got on base with a single, which was immediately followed by a 2-RBI double by Myles Walton. Mark Kirkland had the last word of the inning with an RBI-double to drive in Walton.
Mavericks relief pitcher Vincent Segovia earned the loss, as he was responsible for Thomas and Haller reaching base. After Haller’s hit, Mason Smith relieved Segovia, allowing the two doubles in just four pitches.
K.J. Moon hit his third home run of the season underneath the outfield scoreboard, remaining the only Power player to put a number in that stat column. The home run traveled 445 feet and had an exit velocity of 104 mph.
A.J. Moreno and Chapman Weber pitched in relief, allowing one combined baserunner.
The Power face the Mavericks again tomorrow at 5.
