Palm Springs, Calif. – The Palm Springs Power’s franchise record 51 game win streak ended Wednesday night with a 3-2 defeat to the Inland Valley Bucs at Palm Springs Stadium.
The Power had not lost a game for a span of 396 days dating back to June 17, 2023. Palm Springs drops to 32-1 on the season and finishes CPCL regular season play 19-1.
The Power took an early lead in the bottom of the second on an Andrew Rivas (UC Riverside) RBI double, scoring Alonso Reyes (UC Irvine.)
The Bucs responded with two runs in the third inning and the decisive run in the fourth frame.
The Power bullpen was excellent, shutting out the Bucs over the final five innings. Ismael Quintero (Cal State LA) pitched three shutout innings with five strikeouts and allowed just six baserunners.
Alex Hocking (Cosumnes River) tossed the last two innings with three strikeouts and no hits or runs allowed.
Trailing by two entering the eighth Aiden Taurek (St. Mary’s) tripled and scored on a sacrifice fly. The Power worked the tying run into scoring position in the ninth but could not complete the comeback.
Rivas finished with two hits, both doubles, to lead the Power offense.
The Power resume action on Friday facing the California Halos in the final regular season game of the year. First pitch is at 7 PM as part of Fan Appreciation Night with fan giveaways every inning.
Then Saturday the Power open up the California Premier Collegiate League Championship Series at Palm Springs Stadium. Game one of a best of three series versus the San Diego Waves is at 7 PM as the final game of the season in Palm Springs.
