Palm Springs, Calif. –  Alex Hocking pitched four excellent innings and the Palm Springs Power overcame an early deficit for a 13-7 win over the Inland Valley Bucs on an idyllic Friday night at Palm Springs Stadium.

Hocking (Cosumnes River) entered in the fourth inning for his Power debut with Palm Springs behind. He hurled four innings of near spotless relief out of the bullpen giving up only one run and notching four strikeouts to earn the win.

The Power offense used a complete performance from their offense to pull ahead with Hocking on the mound. Nine different hitters notched a hit and the Power recorded nineteen hits for a second time this season.

After falling behind early, the Power batted around in the second inning to take an early lead. Austin Haller (Western Kentucky) opened up the scoring with a two-run single that brought in Alonso Reyes (UC Irvine) and Aidan Perez (Cal State Northridge). Haller later came around to score on an RBI double from Dalton Thomas (Saint Katherine’s).

With Hocking in control, the Power took the lead for good in the bottom half of the fifth after Ely Brown (Mercer) laced an RBI triple down the right field line to bring in Angel Cortez (Cal State Northridge) and Thomas.

Brown finished a home run shy of the cycle, finishing three for five with 3 RBIs.

The Power polished off their offensive explosion with three tallies in the sixth inning. Aidan Taurek (St. Mary’s) recorded a base hit and later scored on an RBI double off the bat of Brown. Cody Kashimoto (St. Mary’s) then slashed his second of two RBI knocks to bring in Brown.

Six different Power players recorded multi-hit games with Noah Blythe (Hawai’i Pacific) and Reyes notching three hits apiece.

Ismael Quintero (Cal State LA) entered on the hill in the eighth inning and worked the final six outs for Palm Springs. His first two innings in a Power uniform ended with three strikeouts and two scoreless innings to secure the victory.

The Power improve to 29-0 on the year with 48 straight club victories dating to the 2023 season.
