Palm Springs, Calif. –  The Palm Springs Power outlasted the San Diego Waves 6-3 in a CPCL series opener Friday night at Palm Springs Stadium.

Palm Springs jumped on the board quickly in the first with an RBI single by Noah Blythe (Hawaiʻi Pacific).

Austin Haller (Western Kentucky) blasted a 380 foot two run home run over the right field wall to extend the lead in the third. Haller notched his first homer of the year and fourth by the Power player this summer.

Haller finished the night with three hits and two runs. Blythe totaled a two hit two RBI night.

Left hander Josh Martinez (CSU Northridge) worked another excellent day on the mound. The southpaw tossed four innings allowing just one run. Martinez worked himself out of a bases loaded jam in the 2nd inning and worked around the first two runners aboard in the 4th inning.

The Power added key insurance extending a one run lead to three runs by scratching two across in the sixth inning.

Kyle Mosley (Pittsburgh) slammed the door shut for the Power on the mound. He worked 4.2 shutout innings and earned the win. He worked the Power out of a jam in the 5th inning and allowed just one hit in his outing while totaling nine strikeouts.

The Power and Waves face off in the second game of the series Saturday night at 7 PM. Palm Springs Stadium hosts Armed Forces Appreciation Night with free admission for all veterans and active military members. All kids also receive free admission as part of Jack in the Box Family Night.

The Palm Springs Power are a summer collegiate baseball team playing all games at Palm Springs Stadium. The Power are a member of the California Premier Collegiate League and the league’s inaugural champions in 2023. Palm Springs has won nine league championships in 19 seasons of playing baseball in the desert dating to 2004.
