Palm Springs, Calif. – The Palm Springs Power scored early and often while receiving a dominant start on the mound in a 22-2 rout of the Inland Valley Legends Saturday evening at Palm Springs Stadium.
Palm Springs improves to 6-0 on the season and 2-0 in California Premier Collegiate League play with a weekend sweep of the Legends.
Kyle Mosley (Pittsburgh) tossed five shutout innings in the longest appearance of the season by a Power pitcher. He struck out nine batters while allowing just five baserunners. Mosley earned the win.
Offensively, the Power scored in the first inning for a second straight night with two runs in the first inning. Cody Kashimoto (St. Mary’s) starred in his second Power game batting 4-4 with two walks, two RBI, and four runs. Nick Ely (Newman) mounted three hits with four RBI and three runs scored.
The Power worked two explosive innings batting around in both innings. Palm Springs scored six runs in the fourth frame on five hits. The team added multiple exclamation points with seven runs on five hits in the eighth inning.
Patience keyed the Power’s offensive onslaught. Palm Springs worked seven walks and struck out a season low four times. In addition the Power mounted 20 hits for a historic offensive output.
The Power’s 22 runs is the most ever scored for the team in a CPCL game and the first time scoring 20 plus runs since 2021.
The Power next hit the road for the first time this season on Sunday to face the Inland Valley Pirates at Scolinos Field in Pomona. The doubleheader is scheduled for 3 PM and 6 PM.
The Power return to Palm Springs Stadium next Tuesday to face the So Cal Bombers at 7 PM. Tuesday is three dollar beer night with all budweiser and bud light drafts three dollars.
