Palm Springs, Calif. – The Palm Springs Power used a big night from infielder Cody Kashimoto (St. Mary’s) to defeat the Inland Valley Pirates 9-5 on Tuesday night at Palm Springs Stadium.
Kashimoto batted 3-3, including a double and a walk with two runs scored and a stolen base. The Power scored all nine runs in the first four innings and finished with 12 hits.
Brenton Thiels (Louisiana Tech) made his first start of the year and pitched five innings with seven strikeouts to earn the win. He allowed just one run over his last four innings of work.
The Power scored two runs in the first inning thanks to Alonso Reyes’ (UC Irvine) two RBI single. Palm Springs added two runs in the second inning with RBI singles off the bat of Noah Blythe (Hawaii Pacific) and Aiden Taurek (St. Mary’s).
The bats continued to produce in the third courtesy of a two RBI single by Aidan Perez (Cal State Northridge). The Power completed their nine unanswered runs in the fourth frame highlighted by Mark Kirkland’s (Cal Baptist) two RBI triple. Kirkland finished with a two hit night and two runs scored.
Andrew Pinedo (Hope International) closed out the ballgame out of the pen tossing 3.1 shutout innings with three strikeouts.
The Power improve to 13-0 overall and 7-0 in the CPCL with 32 straight franchise wins dating to 2023.
The Power continue play Wednesday night at Palm Springs Stadium against the East LA Dodgers at 7 PM. The Power will host Bark in the Park featuring Mayor Max of Idyllwild and dog treat giveaways from Heyday Hounds. The evening is also a Wild Wednesday presented by Luxury Pools Design and Construction with four dollar margaritas.
