The Palm Springs Power continued their winning streak to open the season improving to 3-0. The Power defeated the Inland Valley Legends 11-3 on Tuesday night at Palm Springs Stadium. Palm Springs had 10 hits and no errors on their way to those 11 runs. Dorsey Chatham scored the victory and the Legends’ Brock Grillo was tagged with the loss.
Starter Matt Porter cruised through 3 innings allowing no hits and just one baserunner. He gave up no runs and dominated his way to 8 strikeouts. In a post game interview Porter said (as a staff) “Our mentality is that I’m better than the hitter.” That showed true tonight as the Power pitcher combined for 22 strikeouts throughout the night. After Porter’s 8 Chatham added 7, Trae Robertson got all 6 of his outs by way of the punch out. Finally Kenny Shechter added 2 in the 9th including the win securing out.
The Power bats were also alive with a 3rd game in a row scoring 11. For the second game in a row first baseman Mark Kirkland had himself a 3 rbi night. Noah Blythe hit in 3 runners as well to combine for 6 of the 11 Power runs. The 4th inning broke it open for the Power as 11 batter game to the plate and 7 runs were driven home. With the pitching dominating that was enough for a Power Win

They will face off against the Southern Nevada ball club as they search for their 4th win in a row to start the 2023 season. The game starts at 7pm, gates are open at 6pm.
