PALM SPRINGS, Calif. ~ The Palm Springs Power earned their fifth straight victory at home on Wednesday night as they defeated the OC Pirates 8-0.
Travis Booth took his second start of the season for the Power and dealt an impressive nine strikeouts over 6 shutout innings, in which he allowed just 4 base knocks. Booth has now delivered 15 Ks over 10.0 scoreless innings.
The Power offense backed up a solid pitching performance yet again, as Josh Prizina blasted the first jack of the 2019 Power season in the bottom of the 3rd inning to go up 2-0 early. Prizina finished 2-for-4 on the night, adding a single in the fourth.
Matt Green juiced a triple in the second inning and cleared the bases in the bottom of the sixth with a deep double to put the Power up 5-0.
Dustin Comeau came in to relieve after Booth’s exceptional outing and delivered five strikeouts of his own over two scoreless innings.
Darin May closed out the ninth in three up, three down fashion as he delivered a strikeout to make it fifteen in total for Power pitchers over the course of the night.
The Power will square off in their first conference matchup of the 2019 season at 7:05PM this Friday night, as they take on the visiting So Cal Stros at Palm Springs Stadium.
