PALM SPRINGS, Calif. ~ Former Palm Springs POWER pitcher Luke Barker signed on with the Milwaukee Brewers in 2016, making him the 93rd player in the franchise history to sign on with an MLB organization at the time. Since then, Barker has accrued an 8-9 record and 2.67 ERA in 80 appearances, notching 24 saves in 114 2/3 innings pitched at the Class A level.
Last season for the Carolina Mudcats, Barker made 46 appearances and earned 20 saves in 23 opportunities. He kept opponents to a .213 BA while striking out 63 batters in 61 innings. This spring, Barker has made 3 appearances, closing out 2 games and striking out 5 in 2 1/3 innings pitched.
POWER fans likely remember Barker for his impressive SCCBL campaign in the summer of 2015. He led the 2015 SCCBL Champions with a 2.01 ERA and 63 strikeouts over 62 2/3 innings. Barker memorably threw the franchise’s first perfect game against Team San Diego on June 29th.
