PALM SPRINGS, Calif. – The Palm Springs Power beat the SoCal Catch 10-4 Saturday night at Palm Springs Stadium.
This is the second win in a row for the Power who are off to a strong start to the season.
The bottom of the order put in work as they had five of the Power’s 11 hits, reached base nine times and scored four runs. In the ninth spot shortstop Anthony Ayala (Cal State LA) reached base all four times with two hits, a fielder’s choice, a walk and two runs scored.
Catcher Travis Tanaka (College of the Desert) made his Power debut with two hits and two runs scored. He also had a great day behind the plate with several key blocks on balls in the dirt that saved bases for his pitchers.
In the outfield, right-fielder Billy Johnson (York College) used his glove to record three outs and also did a good job of getting the ball back to the infield. At the plate he went 2-5 with two stolen bases in the first inning and a run scored.
CJ Broussard (Cal State LA) got the win for the Power with four innings of one-run work with two walks and two strikeouts.
The Power will face the Catch in the final game of the series Sunday at 7:05 p.m. from Palm Springs Stadium.
