PALM SPRINGS, Calif.- Behind the largest attendance at Palm Springs Stadium in 2015, the Palm Springs POWER took the win against the San Francisco Seals for the second straight night, 6-3.
It was a great Independence Day for POWER starting pitcher Tyler Wells, who kept the Seals scoreless until the sixth inning. In his six-inning outing, he would only allow six hits and also strike out 11, a season-high for the tall righty.
It wasn’t until the fourth inning when the POWER scored their first runs of the game. They took the lead 2-0 after RBI singles by Chad Clark and Ryan Raslowsky. Raslowsky would have a phenomenal night at the plate by going 4-for-5 with 2 RBI.
Things would get tied up in the sixth inning when the Seals would finally get to Tyler Wells. A sacrifice fly down the right field line would score the first run for the Seals, and then Max Dolente would come up as a pinch-hitter and deliver an RBI single to knot the score at two.
The POWER would immediately answer with a go-ahead run in the bottom of the sixth as Ryan Raslowsky continued his exceptional game with an RBI single that scored Harry Shipley.
Caleb Wallingford, a left-handed pitcher from the University of Memphis, would get his first appearance in a Palm Springs uniform by throwing a scoreless seventh inning.
Danny Diaz came into the eighth inning, but was unable to hold the lead, as the Seals would score an unearned run to tie the game at three.
Not giving up though, the POWER bats would answer once again as a series of errors would allow Daniel Sander to score the go-ahead run. They wouldn’t look back as two more insurance runs would come around to score as Dillan Smith blooped a single into center field to make the score 6-3.
Diaz would shut the door on the Seals, giving the POWER their 23rd win of the year. The win also would secure the 10th series win for the team in red and white.
A season-record attendance at Palm Springs Stadium, 5,644 fans were in the stands for the 4th of July. POWER fans were also treated to a firework spectacular after the game. Sunday night will conclude the three-game series against the San Francisco Seals at Palm Springs Stadium. Another Sunday Giveaway Day, hats will be given out to the first 200 fans at the ballpark. First pitch will be at 7:05 p.m. and gates open a 6 p.m.
