PALM SPRINGS, Calif. – Friday night at Palm Springs Stadium proved to be an exciting, offensive affair between the Palm Springs POWER and Orange County Waves in Game 2 of the Southern California World Series at Palm Springs Stadium. The POWER were able to score early and often as they won 8-4.
The Orange County Waves got on the board early against POWER starter Luke Barker, scoring one run on a Johnathan Pasillas RBI single in the bottom of the first.
The POWER bats were not quiet for long as they struck for three runs in the top of the third inning courtesy of four consecutive singles; the final single delivered by Nick Jackson drove in two runs to give the POWER a 3-1 lead.
Quick to add to their lead were the POWER as Dillan Smith led off the inning with a single and was brought in on a Daniel Sander RBI single.
The Waves would not go quietly however as they responded in the bottom of the fifth scoring two runs to bring it back to a one-run game at 4-3.
The top of the sixth proved to be a huge inning for the POWER as relentless base-running allowed three runs to come across the plate and make it a 7-3 POWER lead.
Jeremy Alderman came on in the seventh inning to relieve Barker and shut down the Waves attack, only allowing one run on three hits in three innings of relief.
Additional insurance came for Alderman in the top of the ninth as Cody Gaertner drove in Jackson to tack on another run and make it an 8-4 POWER lead.
Alderman closed out the bottom of the ninth with a scoreless inning and earned his second save on the year.
The POWER close out the season winning their fifth consecutive So Cal World Series while compiling a 39-13 record.
