The following seven POWER players were named to the all-star team on Thursday.
- Hunter Bening
- Morgan Earman
- Nick King
- Brooks Kriske
- Alex Mistuloff
- Zach Sterry
- Jordan Zimmerman
Of the seven players selected, four of them are position players and three of them are pitchers.
First baseman Hunter Bening (NW Florida St) hit .361 and showed immense pop this season clubbing 11 doubles and driving in 18 runs. Bening also crushed two home runs and made the all-star team based off his strong second half.
Starting pitcher Morgan Earman (Arizona) was 4-1 with a sparkling 1.67 ERA this season for the POWER. The right-handed pitcher also tossed 43 innings, struck out 41 batters and opponents hit .161 off him. Earman also chipped in three saves showing his ability to be able to start games and come out of the bullpen.
Utility player Nick King (Georgia) hit .389 this season with 17 runs batted in. King’s biggest asset was his speed. He stole a team-high 26 stolen bases.
Starting pitcher Brooks Kriske (USC) was 6-0 with a pristine 1.88 ERA for the POWER. The La Quinta nativeĀ also tossed 43 innings and struck out 42 hitters. The right-hander also was the winning pitcher in Wednesday’s title clinching game.
Starting pitcher Alex Mistuloff (Chico St) put up video game numbers this season with the POWER going 5-0 with a minuscule 0.95 ERA. The right-hander from Chico State had 31 strikeouts in 38 innings and opponents hit .156 off of him.
Outfielder Zach Sterry (Oakland) hit .386 this season with 17 runs batted in. The left-handed slugger made the all-star in large part to his 10 game hit streak he had in July.
Infielder Jordan Zimmerman (Mesa CC) hit .381 this season and finished with 29 runs batted in. Zimmerman became one of the POWER’s most consistent hitters as the season progressed. He capped off his season hitting for the cycle in game one of the SCCBL Championship.
