Adam Quintana (Peru State) dominated the POWER throwing a complete game as the Heat defeated the Palm Springs 6-1.
“He was mixing his pitches pretty well, dominated with the fastball, getting ahead in the count,” said second baseman Jordan Zimmerman. “He was definitely tough to hit”.
The loss dropped the POWER to 27-6 on the season, a game back of the Pirates atop the SCCBL. The win kept the Heat in the playoff hunt as they improved their league record to 4-7.
The dagger for the POWER came in the top of the sixth inning. With High Desert leading 2-1, the Heat started the inning with two singles. After a wild pitch that scored a run, they tacked on three more on the strength of three hits, to give them a 6-1 lead.
The POWER, who only mustered one run on four hits, were led offensively by Jordan Zimmerman (Mesa CC) who had half of the POWER hits Friday evening.
Jesse Bristow (CSU-Pueblo) took the loss, tossing five innings while allowing one earned run.
The POWER jump back into action tomorrow night against the High Desert Heat for the second game of the three-game weekend series.
First pitch is scheduled for 7:05.
Tomorrow night is also Kids Day presented by Desert Air. That means that all kids 12 and under get in for just two dollars.
