PALM SPRINGS, CA – The POWER (17-1, 3-1) defeated the East L.A. Dodgers in dominating fashion, 9-1, at Palm Springs Stadium on Sunday Night.
Robert Hook dazzled in his 2014 debut throwing six scoreless innings while allowing just one hit and striking out six to pick up the win.
“I’ve been here before,” said Hook, who just finished his junior season at Chico State. “I know what it takes. Just go out there, throw strikes and let the defense and hitting do the rest.”
Zach Sterry (Oakland) paced POWER offense going 3-for-5 with two RBIs and two stolen bases.
First-baseman Hunter Bening (Northwestern Florida State) chipped in with three hits, three runs and an RBI.
Doug Finley (CSU Pueblo) closed the game for Palm Springs setting down the side in order.
With the two-game sweep of the Dodgers, the POWER have won eight games in a row.
They will look to continue their streak tomorrow as they hit the road for a league doubleheader with the Inland Valley Pirates.
The POWER return home on Tuesday for another league game with Team San Diego. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 pm.
