PALM SPRINGS, Calif. – The POWER (39-4) passed their final test before the playoffs with flying colors, defeating the Orange County Jaxs 10-1 at Palm Springs Stadium on Sunday.
Shortstop Brett Sullivan paced the POWER offense, going 2-for-5 with two RBIs and a run scored.
Mark Seyler pitched two scoreless innings in relief, allowing just one hit and striking out four, en route to his third victory of the season.
Catcher turned pitcher, Anthony Torres, made his third appearance on the mound in the eighth.The Chula Vista-native threw a zero on the board against the Jaxs, something he has done in every relief appearance thus far, and notched a strikeout to give him six on the season.
The POWER have an off day on Monday before hitting the road to take on the Long Beach Legends on Tuesday in game one of the SCCBL Championship Series.
Left-hander Mitch Bluman takes the mound for Palm Springs, with first pitch at Long Beach City College scheduled for 4:30 p.m.
