PALM SPRINGS, CA — Dylan Becker singled home pinch-runner Todd Dunham with two outs in the ninth inning to give the Palm Springs POWER (36-6, 16-4) a 3-2 victory over the East LA Dodgers on Sunday night at Palm Springs Stadium. Palm Springs has now won eleven in a row and 21 of 22.
With the score tied at two entering the bottom of the ninth inning, catcher Carney Chamberlain singled to right field to lead off for the POWER. Dunham entered as a pinch-runner and was sacrificed to second base by Adam Law. David Kiriakos followed with a groundout, advancing Dunham to third. Becker then singled off the glove of third baseman Brett Bonilla, allowing Dunham to score the winning run.
Becker led the POWER offense with three hits on the night in four at-bats. Kiriakos and first baseman Ryan Jones drove home the other two POWER runs.
Closer Edgar Gomez (6-0) pitched a scoreless ninth inning and earned his sixth victory of the season. The six wins put him in a tie with starting pitcher Ryan DeJesus for the team lead.
