PALM SPRINGS, CA – Ryan DeJesus pitched six scoreless innings to pick up his sixth win of the season as the Palm Springs POWER (33-6, 16-4) shutout the Diamond Valley Sabers (16-13, 10-8 SCCBL) 9-0 at Palm Springs Stadium on Wednesday night.
DeJesus (6-0) has not allowed a run in 23 consecutive innings and lowered his season ERA to 1.02 in the winning performance.
The POWER were led offensively by Brooks Klein who had three hits and three RBIs, including a two-run home run in the eighth inning.
Hank Yates, Joel Thys, Dylan Becker and Todd Dunham also chipped in with two hits apiece for Palm Springs.
Edgar Gomez pitched three scoreless innings of relief to finish the game and earn his fourth save of the season.
The POWER have clinched first place in the SCCBL and will host the Long Beach Legends in the league playoffs starting Tuesday, July 24 at Palm Springs Stadium.
Palm Springs is back in action on Friday night when they face the Nor-Cal Longhorns in the first of a two-game series at Palm Springs Stadium. Game time will be at 7:05 p.m.
