PALM SPRINGS, CA – Nick Baker threw six innings of scoreless ball and allowed just four hits as the POWER (39-7) defeated the East LA Dodgers (29-11) 4-0 at Palm Springs Stadium on Sunday night.
Right-fielder Brooks Klein led the way on offense for Palm Springs going 2-for-3 with two RBIs and a walk.
Hank Yates chipped in with two hits and two stolen bases as the POWER improved to 18-2 in the month of July.
Edgar Gomez earned his seventh save of the season pitching two scoreless innings while striking out three.
Klein made it 1-0 POWER in the bottom of the first as his RBI groundout scored Tyler Surnbrock who doubled to lead off the inning.
Palm Springs would get two more runs in the fifth frame thanks to their legs. Adam Law singled with one out and would steal second and third before swiping home plate to make it 2-0. Surnbrock followed suit as he drew a walk, stole second and third and came home on the wild pitch by Dodgers starter Nick Sanchez.
The POWER are back in action on Tuesday as the OC Pioneers come to town on Dollar Beer Night. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
