PALM SPRINGS, CA – Fourteen batters came to the plate in the seventh as the POWER (10-1, 4-1) posted 10 runs as they cruised to an 18-4 victory over the High Desert Heat (0-4, 0-4) at Palm Springs Stadium on Friday night.
Outfielder Hank Yates paced the offense going 2-for-6 with two runs and five RBI as he extended his league-best hitting streak to nine games.
Carlos Fuentes (1-0) got the win in his second start of the season pitching five innings while giving up two runs with seven strikeouts.
James Carraway led the way for High Desert with two hits, including a double, an RBI and a run scored.
Both teams will lock wits again tomorrow in game 2 of this weekend series with the gates opening at 6:05 p.m. and first pitch at 7:05 p.m.
