PALM SPRINGS, CA – The Palm Springs POWER dropped their first game of the season to the Long Beach Legends 6-4 on Sunday night at Palm Springs Stadium.
Hank Yates led the POWER offense in the loss with two hits and two runs scored while relief pitcher Jake McCoy pitched two and two-thirds scoreless innings, striking out four batters.
Legends’ starting pitcher Josh Frye kept the POWER at bay for seven innings, allowing just one earned run while striking out nine hitters. Sean Nearhoof drove in the winning runs for Long Beach in the top of the eighth inning with a one out single.
The POWER are back in SCCBL action on Tuesday when they take on the Diamond Valley Sabers at 7:05 p.m. at Palm Springs.
