PALM SPRINGS, CA — Nick Salotti, part of the 2006 POWER team that made it to the NBC Baseball World Series tournament, was awarded the Pointstreak Batter of the Week in the CanAmLeague, the Canadian American Association of Professional Baseball, this past week. Salotti went 11-for-30 for his Worcester Tornados, good for a .367 batting average. He also clubbed three home runs and knocked in 12 RBIs. The local product of Palm Desert slugged .733 for the week, bolstering his season slugging percentage to .472.
Salotti played for the POWER the summer before his senior year of college, and was a part of the 2006 POWER squad that went 39-7. Salotti played in 19 games and hit an even .400, posting an OPS of over 1.000. He finished up his career at UC Riverside hitting .467 in his final collegiate campaign in 2007 and then moved on to the Frontier League, playing two seasons there. In 2007, he played for Florence Freedom and in 2008 for the Evansville Otters and later again the Freedom, where he collected a Frontier League record-tying 6 hits in one game twice in the two seasons and hit a combined 12 HRs for the two teams in 2008.
Salotti has played the past two seasons with the Worcester Tornadoes. Last year he hit 10 HRs for the club.
