Palm Springs, CA – The Palm Springs POWER scored early and often to take down the L.A. Thrashers, 15-3 on Sunday night at Palm Springs Stadium. The POWER victory moves their overall record to 28-2 and 18-1 in conference play.After the Thrashers took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first, the POWER answered with two in their half of the inning to take the lead for good. The POWER then poured it on with one run in the second inning and one in the third before breaking the game open in the fourth with six more runs.
The POWER also had a four-run sixth inning that added to their already tremendous lead over the Thrashers. When all was said and done, the POWER were able to enjoy a 15-3 victory.
A once again dominant pitching performance assisted the offensive onslaught in the POWER blowout victory. Jacob Nelson started on the mound for the POWER, going three innings, giving up four hits against 15 batters faced, with four strikeouts. Corey Black took the mound in the fourth, giving up only one hit, with three strikeouts to grab his third win of the 2010 season.
Outfielder Marcus Romero and catcher Ricky Gringas were both one hit shy of hitting for the cycle, both lacking a homerun. Gringas went 4-5 on the night with two RBIs, while Romero went 3-3 at the plate, driving in four RBIs.
The POWER return to action on Tuesday night when they take on the San Diego Waves at Palm Springs Stadium. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 PM and the gates open up at 6:00 PM and it will be Dollar Beer night at the ballpark.
