The Palm Springs POWER will clash with the Orange County Pioneers in a three game playoff series starting Tuesday night at 7:05 p.m. at Palm Springs Stadium to see who will garner the championship trophy and sit on top of the Southern California Collegiate Baseball Association.

The Pioneers went from last place with an 0-6 record to second place in the SCCBA and come in as the second hottest team next to the POWER.  They are now 10-10 in the conference, going 10-4 in the last 14 games while the POWER are sitting at 18-2 in the conference and 31-7 overall.

The last time the two teams played each other was at Mater Dei High School in Orange County on July 5th and they split the double header.  The Pioneer’s took the first game 5-4 after scoring four runs in the bottom of the fifth inning and the POWER won game two 7-3.

It was not the same team that the POWER faced earlier in the season.  The Pioneers have certainly come a long way since the first time they saw them at Palm Springs Stadium on June 26th and 27th.  The POWER destroyed them 19-0 in the first game and 5-0 in the second.  It was from there that the Pioneer’s started to pull it together after the California Mariners looked like they had second place on lock down.  The Pioneers added a few talented players to the roster and after the Mariners started a deep slide with a string of losses, Orange County jolted up in the standings to steal second place and a spot in the playoffs.

The POWER will have Cal State San Bernardino ace Aaron Brooks on the mound in game one of the playoffs at Palm Springs Stadium.  The first pitch is set for 7:05 p.m. with gates opening at 6 p.m.  Fans can enjoy $1 draft beer all night at the stadium.PIONEERS WILL TAKE ON POWER FOR SCCBA TROPHY
