Amazing Season Comes to an End

Much like in their game one loss, costly errors proved to be too much to overcome for the POWER as they dropped their 5th round game to the Seattle Studs 6-2. The loss eliminated the POWER from the NBC World Series bringing an amazing 2006 POWER season to a close. The POWER committed five errors in the game and the Studs were able to capitalize,bringing in those extra base runners. The POWER were able to bring in a run in the third on a sac fly by Jesse Rodgers and again in the eighth on a sac fly by Gabe Jacobo. The POWER had nine hits in the game but were unable to produce the clutch hits with runners on base needed to spark a rally.Overall the POWER finish in a tie for 11th place in the NBC World Series. With the loss the POWER’s final record on the season finishes at (39-7). The POWER’s final victory of the season on Saturday also happened to be the 100th victory in franchise history bringing the franchise overall record to 100-36 all time (.735 winning pct). The POWER would like to thank all the fans and sponsors who supported the team this season.

POWER Pitching Wipes Out Waves

Palm Springs POWER
Trying to get hot and build momentum following their victory Friday, the POWER did just that against the San Diego Waves Saturday as they shut them out by a score of 2-0. The POWER pitching proved to be too much for San Diego to handle as Ari Ronick, Kevin Bissell, and Bryan Shaw combined to blank the Wave’s offense. Ronick(6-2) picked up the
win as he threw a dominant six innings to start the game. POWER set up man Kevin Bissell followed suite with a solid two innings of his own and POWER closer Bryan Shaw returned to form with a lights out 1-2-3 ninth inning to pick up the save. The POWER offense got things going in the top of the first as they jumped ahead 1-0 on an rbi single by designated hitter Kyle Walton. In the top of the fifth the POWER tacked on another run with a solo home run over the left field wall by catcher Brian Capon, who went 2-3 overall on the day with the blast. With the win the POWER record improves to (39-6) on the season. The POWER will be back on the field again Sunday afternoon to take on the Seattle Studs at 3pm, (5pm Wichita). POWER Jump Ahead Early, Hang on to Win 5-4

Palm Springs POWER
Facing a do-or-die situation Friday morning, the POWER battled to play another day, beating the San Luis Obispo Blues by a score of 5-4. The POWER offense got things going early as they put up four runs in the top of the third on two-run singles by Jesse Rodgers and Gabe Jacobo. After adding another run on a Blues error in the fourth, the POWER pitching did the rest as they held off the San Luis Obispo bats for the victory. POWER starter and winning pitcher Raymond Pelton(7-0) pitched a solid six innings allowing only three earned runs. Andres Esquibel came out of the bullpen to throw a lights out three innings of relief, picking up the save. Kent Walton set the table for the POWER offense at the top of the order as he went 4-5 along with one run and two stolen bases. POWER shortstop Ray Ravago also had a solid game going 3-4 with two runs. With the victory the POWER record improves to (38-6) on the season. The POWER will play again Saturday vs. the San Diego Waves at a time to be determined. The POWER will post the game time online as soon as it is announced. POWER Drop Opener 9-8 On Uncharacteristic Costly Errors

Leading 8-6 going into the bottom of the 9th in their first round matchup with the Community Bank Cowboys, the POWER took a tough loss dropping the game on a late rally by the Cowboys by a final of 9-8. POWER closer Bryan Shaw (1-1) took the loss as he gave up his first three runs of the season on a sac bunt and two rbi singles in the bottom of the 9th. Despite the loss, the POWER offense swung the bats well led by a 4-5 2RBI peformance by Gabe Jacobo who started the POWER scoring in the top of the 2nd with an inside the park home run. Kent Walton, Jesse Rodgers, Rego Nieto, and Ray Ravago all chipped in with two hits a piece but costly errors by the POWER and clutch late game hitting by the Cowboys proved to be too much to overcome. With the loss the POWER’s overall record goes to (37-6) on the season. The POWER now find themselves in a must win situation for the rest of the tournament. The POWER will play again Friday vs. the winner of the game between the Pueblo Colorado Chieftains and the San Luis Obispo Blues on Wednesday.

The POWER’s final game of the regular season ended with some more late game heroics as the POWER rallied back late to take the 4-3 victory over the So Cal Tremors. Trailing 3-1 in the bottom of the seventh the POWER battled back to tie the game on a double steal score by Jesus Beltran and an rbi double by Brett Blumenthal. With the score tied 3-3 in the bottom of the eighth Nick Solatti hit a clutch rbi single to right, putting the POWER up for good. POWER closer Bryan Shaw came in to pick up his seventh save of the season as he pitched a lights out 1-2-3 9th inning to close out the regular season with a bang. POWER reliever Trevor York(4-0) picked up the victory. With the win the POWER record improves to (37-5) on the season. The POWER play their first game in Wichita on Monday morning at 10am vs. the Community Bank Cowboys. Full post game reports will be available on the POWER website after game in Wichita. After dropping two consecutive games the POWER got back on track Friday night defeating the US Marines by a score of 11-3. The POWER offense was charged by the bats of Jacob Vasquez, Kyle Walton, and Nick Solatti who all had two hits on the night. POWER starter Josh White(5-1) picked up the win. White threw a solid four innings giving up only one run while striking out five. With the victory the POWER record improves to (36-5) on the season. Before heading out to Wichita on Saturday, the POWER play their final game of the regular season at home on Friday vs. So Cal Tremors at 7:05pm. Friday is also fan appreciation night featuring the star spangled banner by POWER player Ross Sinclair.

The POWER dropped a tough game on the road Tuesday losing to the So Cal Fire by a score of 4-3. The POWER allowed a key run on a balk in the bottom of the 5th inning putting the Fire up 3-2. The POWER were able to tie the score in the top of the 7th on a rbi single by Ross Sinclair but the Fire took back the lead for good in the bottom of the 7th. POWER reliever Cody Wise (3-1) took the loss. With the loss the POWER record goes to (35-5). The POWER play against the US Navy on Wednesday night at 7:05.

The POWER made things interesting in the bottom of the 9th but were unable to pull off the rally Saturday night as they lost to the Newport Beach Storm 9-7. Poor fielding was the achilles heel for the POWER tonight as they committed five errors, allowing costly runs to score early. The POWER offense swung the bats well as they put up seven runs on 19 hits but it proved to be not enough. POWER starter Ari Ronick(5-2) took the loss. With the loss the POWER record goes to (35-4) on the season. The POWER play on the road Tuesday vs. the So Cal Fire at 6:30pm. The POWER return home Wednesday for a 7:05 game with the US Navy.

The POWER offense got going early and never let things get close as they cruised to a 7-1 win over the East LA Dodgers to stay hot as they prepare for their journey to Wichita next week. The POWER bats put up four runs in the first inning led by back to back rbi singles by sluggers Kyle Walton and Gabe Jacobo. The Walton brothers, Kyle and Kent, fueled the POWER offense Friday night as they each chipped in with two hits a piece. Raymond Pelton(6-0) picked up the win Friday night pitching a lights out six innings allowing zero runs while striking out seven. With the victory the POWER record goes to (35-3) on the season. The POWER play at home again vs. the Newport Beach Storm at 7:05 pm.

The POWER were caught still celebrating their birth into the world series early in Wednesday game, but managed to rally back and pull out the 8-7 victory over the So Cal Glory in 10 innings. The POWER saw themselves down 7-3 after six innings but managed to fight back, putting up a run in both the 7th and 8th innings before tying the game in the bottom of the 9th. With the POWER down 7-5 in the 9th Brian Ramirez came in to score on a passed ball cutting the lead down to one. Soon after, Jesse Rodgers was brought in on the balk tying the score at 7-7. In the POWER’s first extra innings effort of the season, Brian Ramirez knocked in the winning run on a liner to left, winning the game 8-7. POWER reliever Chris Sigfried(3-0) picked up the win for the POWER. With the victory the POWER record goes to (34-3). The POWER play again at home on Friday at 7:05.

POWER WIN! POWER WIN! An amazing 2006 season for the Palm Springs POWER was capped off Sunday night when the POWER defeated the Havasu Heat by a score of 3-2, making them champions of the 2006 PSWL tournament and awarding them a birth into the NBC World Series in Wichita. The game was stopped after five innings after the home plate umpire was unable to continue due to heat exhaustion. By league rules five innings is a complete game so the POWER were awarded the victory. The POWER offense started putting runs on the board early on rbi knocks from Josh Plumaj and David Gomez and never looked back. POWER starter Andres Esquibel(4-0) picked up the win tonight going the full five innings while giving up only one earned run. With the victory the POWER record goes to (33-3) on the season. The POWER play at home again Wednesday night at 7:05 vs. the So Cal Glory.

Clutch hitting and big game pitching, the two things that have fueled the POWER all year, came up big again Saturday night as the POWER beat the Havasu Heat 10-5. The POWER offense was its usual self tonight as they put up 10 runs on the board with 16 hits. Gabe Jacobo came up big for the POWER as he pounded four big hits to set the table for the offense. Johnny Coit also chipped in with three hits of his own. POWER starter Ari Ronick(5-1) picked up the win tonight for the POWER after throwing a solid seven innings, picking up key strikeouts whenever he found himself in trouble. With the win the POWER record goes to (32-3) on the season. Sunday night the POWER will have the chance to win the tournament and punch their ticket to the World Series if they can take the victory again in the 7:30 game at Palm Springs Stadium. The POWER will play the winner of the 4:30 game between the Havasu Heat and the Casa Grande Cotton Kings.

The POWER bats were as hot as the tempers on the field Friday night as they defeated the Las Vegas Team Famous by a score of 10-1. The game was cut short after 5 ½ innings when umpires determined tempers were running too high to continue after a bench clearing rumble. The altercation began after POWER catcher Brian Capon was hit in the head by a first pitch fastball after a previous verbal exchange between the teams. With the POWER one hit away from a mercy rule victory, umpires awarded the POWER the victory. On the night the POWER had six players with at least two hits including a big 3-3 2 RBI performance by POWER slugger Kyle Walton. POWER starter Raymond Pelton(5-0) picked up the win tonight on a solid six innings of work while allowing only one run. With the victory the POWER record goes to (31-3) on the season. The POWER play in the next round of the tournament Saturday night at 7:30 vs. their rivals the Havasu Heat at Palm Springs Stadium.

It wasn’t pretty but it was still a win for the POWER tonight as they beat the So Cal Glory 14-4. The Glory pitchers had some trouble finding the strike zone Wednesday night as they walked 12 POWER batters and hit five. The POWER didn’t fail to take advantage of these base runners though as they stole ten bases on the night, including five by Kent Walton. Jesse Rodgers led the POWER offense going 2-2 with a RBI. Josh White(4-0) picked up the win for the POWER. With the victory the POWER record goes to (30-3) on the season. The POWER start play in the PSWL Tournament Friday night at 7:30 at Palm Springs Stadium against the winner of the Cotton Kings vs. Team Famous game.

Same opponent. Same result. Once again the POWER claimed victory by mercy rule, beating the Nevada Yankees 10-0 in 7 innings. The victory marked the POWER’s 5th mercy rule win in 5 days. Hot hitting Nick Salotti led the POWER going 2-3 with 2 RBI’s. POWER outfielder David Gomez also went 2-3 with 2 RBI’s of his own. POWER pitcher Michael Joannides(2-0) picked up the win for the POWER. Joannides pitched a strong four innings giving up only one hit while striking out seven. With the victory the POWER record goes to (29-3) on the season. The POWER play again at home on Wednesday vs. the So Cal Glory.

Mercy rule wins seem to be common place for the POWER at the moment as they picked up their 4th in as many days as they beat the visiting Nevada Yankees by a score of 14-0. Jesse Rodgers swung the big stick for the POWER Saturday night as he went 2-4 with 4 RBI’s and even stole home. POWER veterans Kyle Walton and Brian Capon also each chipped in with 2 hits a piece. Melvin Blackman(1-0) pitched an impressive 5 innings giving up only 2 hits while striking out 5. As a whole the POWER pitching staff was lights out tonight as they allowed only 2 hits in 7 innings while striking out 10. With the victory the POWER record goes to (28-2) on the season. The POWER host these same Nevada Yankees again Sunday night at 7:05. Tomorrow night the POWER invite fans to bring their dogs to the game for Bark in the Park night. All fans who bring a toy for the Barbara Sinatra Charity Fund get free admission to the game.

The POWER swept two games from the Phoenix Blazers Friday in mercy rule games by the scores of 15-4 and 13-0. In game 1 Rego Nieto led the POWER offense going 2-3 with 3 RBI’s. Dustin Birosak(2-0) picked up the win for the POWER. In game two POWER slugger Jacob Vasquez led the POWER offense going 3-3 with 5 RBI’s including a 430ft homerun. Ross Sinclair also hit a homerun for the POWER. Andres Esquibel(3-0) picked up the win for the POWER. With the two victories the POWER record goes to (27-2) on the season.

The POWER were victorious once again on the road in game 1 of Thursday’s double header as they won 6-1 over the Phoenix Blazers. Josh White(3-0) got the win as he pitched a dominating 6 innings giving up only one unearned run while striking out five. Kyle Walton continued to produce with the bat as he chipped in with a 1-3 performance and 2 RBI’s. Ross Sinclair added two hits of his own in the victory.
The POWER weren’t as fortunate in game 2 as they took a tough 1-0 loss. POWER starting pitcher Ari Ronick(4-1) pitched solid 6 innings giving up only 1 run while striking out eight, but the POWER bats weren’t their usual selves as they managed to muster up only four hits in the game. With the split the POWER record goes to (25-2) on the season. The POWER have another double header Friday in Phoenix before returning home Saturday for a 7:05 game with the Nevada Yankees.

Some teams have trouble on the road but that apparently wasn’t the case for the POWER Wednesday night as they mercy-ruled the Phoenix Blazers by a score of 13-0 in 7 innings. Kyle Walton showed off his home run power for a second night in a row as he sent a 446 ft blast into the desert night. POWER outfielder Johnny Coit also hit a 2-run moon-shot of his own to help the cause. Raymond Pelton (4-0) did all the pitching for the POWER tonight as he threw a full 7 innings, allowing only 3 hits. With the victory the POWER record improves to (24-1) on the season. The POWER are in Phoenix again Thursday night for game two of a three game series against the Blazers. The game begins at 7:05.

The POWER offense was as explosive as the fireworks show on Tuesday night as the POWER bats combined for six runs on 13 hits on their way to a 6-3 victory over the Military All-Stars. The POWER offense kicked off with an explanation point in the top of the 2nd when POWER hitter Kyle Walton slugged a solo home run off the scoreboard to put the POWER on the board. Walton wasn’t the only one bringing in runs for the POWER on Tuesday night as 10 POWER hitters had at least one hit on the night. Cody Wise (3-0) picked up the win tonight, pitching a solid 4 innings in relief. With the victory the POWER record improves to (23-1) on the season. The POWER will be hitting the road for the next three days as they head to Phoenix for a conference series against the Blazers.

The POWER brooms came out for the sweep tonight as they won both games Sunday vs. the Las Vegas Sand Vipers with scores of 9-3 and 3-1. In game one of the double header the POWER bats continued to stay hot from Saturday night as they put together 9 runs on 11 hits. POWER veteran Rego Nieto led the POWER bats with a 3-4 performance and an RBI. POWER pitcher Josh White (2-0) picked up the win while throwing 3 solid innings giving up only one run.
In game two is was the POWER pitching that told the story led by a lights out performance by POWER starter and winning pitcher Andres Esquibel(2-0). In 5 innings of work Esquibel gave up only 2 hits while striking out an impressive 10 batters. POWER closer Bryan Shaw pitched a nice 1.2 innings with 2 strikeouts on the way to his 6th save of the year. Jesus Beltran led the POWER offense in game 2 going 2-4 with an RBI. With the two wins the POWER record improves to (22-1). The POWER play again Tuesday night in a big 4th of July game when they host the Military All Stars at 6:05pm. Tickets are only $1 for Tuesday night’s game. After the game there will be an apple pie eating contest followed by a spectacular 20 minute fireworks show.

The POWER offense exploded Saturday night as the POWER mercy-ruled the Las Vegas Sand Vipers by a score of 13-1 in 7 innings. The POWER offensive clinic was topped off with a POWER record 394 ft blast of a home run by hot hitting POWER first basemen Gabe Jacobo. Jacobo was an impressive 3-4 on the night with 4 RBI’s and 2 runs. Also fueling the POWER hit parade were POWER catcher Brian Capon and outfielder David Gomez who both went 2-3 with 2 runs. POWER winning pitcher Ari Ronick (4-0) threw a dominating 5 innings while giving up only 1 earned run on 3 hits. With the win the POWER record improves to (20-1) on the season. The POWER play host to a double header Sunday vs. the Las Vegas Sand Vipers beginning at 4:05. All families of five or more get into the game for only $20.

The POWER may have been out hit tonight but they weren’t outscored on their way to a 4-2 victory over the Las Vegas Sand Vipers. The middle of the POWER lineup did the damage tonight as Kyle Walton, Rego Nieto, and Gabe Jacobo combined for 6 hits, 3 runs, and 2 RBI’s on the night. POWER winning pitcher Raymond Pelton (3-0) pitched a solid 6 innings giving up only 1 earned run while striking out 4. With the POWER up 4-2 in the top of the 9th Bryan Shaw came in to throw his usual lights out effort, picking up his 5th save of the season. With the victory the POWER record improves to (19-1) on the season. The POWER host the Sand Vipers again Saturday night at 7:05. All employees of Riverside County will be offered free admission to Saturday night’s game along with one guest.

It took a couple of innings but the POWER offense came back alive Wednesday night as they put themselves back in the win column by a score of 8-1 over the Inland Empire Rockets. Ross Sinclair led the POWER offense tonight with a solid 3-4 performance along with two runs, a RBI, and a stolen base. POWER catcher Brian Capon also chipped in with a monster RBI triple off the wall. The POWER pitching was equally solid tonight led by a dominating peformance by starter Melvin Blackman, who pitched five scoreless innings while striking out seven. POWER reliever Chris Sigfried (2-0) picked up the win tonight. With the win the POWER record goes to (18-1). The POWER play again at home Friday night vs. the Las Vegas Sand Vipers at 7:05. Friday night is also Rocky the Ram’s birthday. To celebrate Rocky’s birthday the POWER staff will be handing out cake from Cold Stone Creamery to all those in attendance.

The potent POWER offense wasn’t it’s usual self Tuesday night and as a result they took their first loss of the season. It wasn’t until the 7th inning that the POWER were able to put their first hit on the board with a single by Jesse Rodgers. The POWER were able to put two runs on the board in the bottom of the 8th but it proved to be too little too late as they took the 7-2 loss. Despite pitching two solid innings to start the game, POWER pitcher Dustin Birosak (1-1) took the loss tonight. With the loss the POWER record goes to 17-1. The POWER play at home again Wednesday night vs the Inland Empire Rockets at 7:05pm. Wednesday will also be ladies night where all ladies get in free.

It appears that this weekend’s series between the POWER and the Heat wasn’t meant to be. After enduring trouble with the field lights on Saturday night, the POWER would face more trouble with game delays on Sunday. In the bottom of the 5th the game was suspended as a sandstorm with 40 mph winds and lightning blew into Havasu. After an hour and 45 minute delay the umpires decided it was too dangerous for the players to be on the field. League and team officials will decide on makeup dates later this week. On Tuesday the POWER will have a home game at 7:05pm at Palm Springs Stadium with 2005 National Champion Runner’s up Santa Barbara Foresters.

Due to technical difficulties with the lights during the 4th inning of tonight’s POWER game, the POWER and Heat were unable to complete Saturday night’s game. Umpires ruled that the field was too dark to continue play and the game will be rescheduled at a later time. The POWER would like to apologize to all the fans and will make an announcement as soon as a make up date has been determined.
Prior to the delay the POWER were winning the game by a score of 4-0 led by a 2-run home run by Gabe Jacobo. The POWER play a double header on the road tommorow vs. the Havasu Heat.

The POWER stayed large and in charge in the Pacific Southwest League Friday night as they took out their rivals, the Havasu Heat, by a score of 7-4. Kent Walton led the POWER offense on Friday night with an impressive 4-5 performance along with 3 runs a RBI and a stolen base. With the POWER leading 5-4 in the bottom of the 7th, POWER veteran Brian Capon put the game away with a big 385 ft two-run blast over the left-center field wall. Raymond Pelton (2-0) picked up the win for the POWER and closer Bryan Shaw threw a lights out 9th inning to pick up his 4th save of the season. With the win the POWER record now goes to 17-0 on the season. The POWER play again Saturday at 7:05 at Palm Springs Stadium vs. their rivals the Havasu Heat. Saturday’s game will feature an appearance by both Miss California and Miss California Teen.

It wasn’t easy, but the POWER managed to keep the streak alive with another come from behind win; beating the So Cal Fire 7-6. Down 6-4 in the bottom of the 8th, Brian Capon hit a 2-run double to tie the score at 6-6. In the bottom of the 9th with runners on the corners and Kent Walton at the plate Raymond Ravago came in for the game winning run on the error at first base. Chris Sigfried (1-0) pitched a perfect 9th inning to pick up the win for the POWER. With the win the POWER record now goes to 16-0 on the season. The POWER play again Friday at 7:05 at Palm Springs Stadium vs. their rivals the Havasu Heat. Friday’s game will feature the fan favorite hamburger eating contest.

In Game two of the conference double header the POWER fell behind early giving up 4 runs in the first inning. It was not until the 6th inning the POWER got on the board after Jacob Vasquez hit his third homer of the season on an opposite field blast to left center field. The POWER then put three runs on the board in the 7th inning before handing the ball off to Bryan “Lights Out” Shaw for his third save of the series. The POWER will return to action Wednesday night against the night at 7:05 pm against the So. Cal Fire who finished 3rd in the NBC World Series in 2005.

Veteran POWER pitcher Raymond Pelton made his season debut before a excited crowd of 2,000 fans tonight and did not disappoint. Pelton threw 8 innings of shutout ball allowing only four hits while striking out seven. POWER closer Brian Shaw picked up another save tonight, his second of the year, in a 1-2-3 9th inning bringing the POWER record to a perfect 13-0 on the season. The POWER offense chipped with a run on a rbi single from 2nd baseman Brian Ramirez in the 2nd inning and a run on a double steal scoring 3rd baseman Jesus Beltran in the 4th inning. The POWER play again Sunday at Palm Springs Stadium vs. the Las Vegas Team Famous. Sunday’s game is a double header beginning at 4:05 with the second game beginning at approximately 7:30.

The POWER win train kept on rolling Friday night as the POWER pushed their record breaking win streak to 12 games on a 9-6 victory over the Las Vegas Nationals. POWER stars Kurt Mertins and Jacob Vasquez fueled the 9 run 14 hit performance. Mertins was 3-4 on the night with 1 RBI and 2 SB. Vasquez chipped in with his standard 2-4 performance with 3 RBI’s of his own. Ari Ronick (3-0) picked up the win for the POWER tonight while closer Brian Shaw picked up his first save of the season. POWER record improves to (12-0) on the season. The POWER play again Saturday night at Palm Springs Stadium vs. the Las Vegas Nationals at 7:05. There will be fireworks following the game tomorrow

It was another thriller tonight at Palm Springs Stadium as the POWER pulled through with another come from behind win, beating the Denver Cougars 10-9. Trailing 7-3 in the bottom of the 6th, the POWER put up 5 runs in the inning led by back to back rbi singles by Jacob Vasquez and Gabe Jacobo. Ahead 10-7 going into the top of the 9th the POWER had a scare as the Cougars put up two runs but POWER pitcher Kevin Bissel got the Cougars to fly out to left field to end the game, leaving the tying run at third baseb. Cody Wise (2-0) picked up the win for the POWER while Kevin Bissel picked up his first save of the year. With the victory the POWER record improves to (11-0) on the season. With the POWER down 5-4 going into the bottom of the 9th Tuesday night and a nine game winning streak on the line, it was time for some more late inning magic from Jacob “Big Papi” Vasquez. With Vasquez batting, pinch runner Ross Sinclair came into to tie the game at 5-5 on the wild pitch. Two pitches later with the crowd on it’s feet POWER super slugger Jacob Vasquez swung his big stick once again with a two run moon shot home run off the light pole in right center, winning the game for the POWER 7-5. Overall, Vasquez was 2-4 on the night with 3 RBI. Trevor York was the winning pitcher for the POWER. With the victory the POWER record improves to (10-0) on the season. The POWER bats beat down the Longhorns with some clutch hitting in the 8th inning to push their season opening win streak to 9 games. With the score tied 4-4, POWER speed man Kent Walton led off the hit parade in the 8th with a 2 run double putting the POWER up 6-4. With tensions running high all night, benches cleared but no punches were thrown as the POWER bats went back to work. The next POWER batter, Brett Blumenthal, expanded the POWER lead with a run scoring single moving the led to 7-4. The POWER bats weren’t silenced before scoring 3 more runs in the inning. New POWER pitcher and Long Beach State closer Brian Shaw provided the POWER with 2 1/3 innings of perfect relief on his way to picking up his first win of the season. The Super Bash Brother’s Kyle and Kent Walton led the POWER offensive effort in game one as each player chipped in with three hits in the POWER’s 8-3 victory. The winning pitcher of the game was Kevin Bissell who threw four innings of scoreless baseball in relief. In game two of the double header it was much of the same story again for the POWER as the offense was potent and the pitching was stingy on their way to a 12-2 mercy rule victory in the bottom of the 7th. Brett Blumenthal led the offense in the second game leading the way with two big doubles including the game clinching hit. Winning pitcher was Mike Joannides. The POWER took on the Casa Grande Cotton Kings in a conference double header and took both games 6-5 and 11-3 to improve their overall record to (5-0) and (2-0) in conference. In game one Trevor York threw 3 scoreless innings of relieve for the POWER and picked up his first victory of the season. Offensively Jacob Vasquez lead the POWER going 4 for 4 with all 5 POWER RBI’s and had the first POWER home run of the season.
In game two local Palm Desert High and C.O.D. stand out Cody Wise threw 5 shutout innings of relief for the POWER to pick up his first victory of the season. Offensively, Kent Walton from BYU lead the POWER going 2 for 4 and scoring 3 runs. The POWER will return to action Thursday at Palm Springs Stadium with a Double Header taking on the same Casa Grande Cotton Kings at 4:05pm and 7:35pm .

The POWER offense showed its depth tonight as 12 POWER hitters chipped in with at least one hit on the night. Power Shutout Tijuana 5-0 in Home Opener
The POWER started off the season with a bang Friday night shutting out the visiting Tijuana Stars 5-0. The POWER victory was led by a dominating performance by POWER starter and winning pitcher Dustin Birosak who threw 5 innings of one hit baseball while striking out six batters. The POWER offense was led tonight by some familiar names as Brian Capon and Rego Nieto provided the clutch hitting for the POWER. Nieto led things off with a rbi single in the 3rd while Capon closed the door on Tijuana with a clutch two run double in the 6th. The next POWER game is Saturday night at 7:05 vs these same Tijuana Stars.
